Toowoomba - The Garden City
Toowoomba is 90 minutes drive west of Queensland's capital city, Brisbane, and two hours from the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast beaches. With a population of nearly 90,000 people, Toowoomba is Australia's second largest inland city after Canberra, the nation's capital. The city sits on the crest of the Great Dividing Range, around 700 metres above sea level.
Toowoomba enjoys four distinct seasons and the rich volcanic soil in the region helps maintain the 150 public parks that are scattered across the city. Jacaranda, Liquidamber and Camphor Laurel trees line many of the city streets. The city's reputation as 'The Garden City' is highlighted during the Carnival of Flowers festival held in September each year.
Community Facilities
Toowoomba has an impressive list of community facilities which include:
· Six major shopping centres besides the CBD, six medium centres, and seven smaller centres.
· Three major hospitals and a mental health hospital.
· Ten secondary schools and twelve primary schools,
· A world renowned University.
· A TAFE college.
· Two movie theatre complexes as well as a world class stage production theatre -The Empire
· Two membership golf courses and a nine hole public course.
· A light aircraft airport.
· A racecourse.
· A world class show ground facility.
The Future
Toowoomba may not be on the radar as a hot spot to invest, but it has an impressive record of being a stable and secure environment in which to invest. Given all that already exists, it does not take much imagination as to what will happen when there is a second range crossing, electrification of the rail line between Toowoomba and Brisbane, the development of the planned inland rail link from NSW to Toowoomba and onto Gladstone, making Toowoomba a major Transport Hub.
Follow that up with an upgraded regional airport that will happen in time and two other developments that will come sooner than later that are well overdue, a second Four Star Hotel and a Resort Golf Course Community.
